|Please join me in my efforts to remember my mom, Terri, by supporting the Lupus Foundation of America-DC/MD/VA Chapter!|
|When I meet people to discuss lupus, I find that few know what the disease is. Lupus affects approximately 1.5 million Americans and more than 80,000 in DC, Maryland, Virginia alone. This chronic, debilitating autoimmune disease attacks the skin, joints, and organs. It is not terminal or contagious, but can be life threatening. Currently, there is no cure. Lupus patients face a daily struggle with chronic fatigue, joint pain, and numerous complications. Unfortunately, because most lupus patients don't "look sick" they often feel alone and isolated. |
To help put a face on this invisible disease, I'm walking in the 9th Annual Walk to End Lupus Now! on Saturday, April 18th. The money we raise will go to the Lupus Foundation of America, DC/MD/VA Chapter (LFA-DMV). LFA-DMV provides free education and support services to lupus patients and their families. Money will also go to support research, because they believe, as I do, that one day this awful disease will have a cure.
Last year, with all of your support, I raised about $8,000! This year, my goal is to raise $15,000. Will you help me reach that goal? You can make a secure online donation through this website.
Every step raises awareness and funds to help solve the cruel mystery. So, please donate to this cause as I walk in the 9th Annual DC Walk to End Lupus Now!
Thank you in advance for taking that step with me. Every step raises awareness and funds to help solve the cruel mystery.
